Future looks bright for budding actor, Marowa

Recently nominated for the Outstanding Actor Award at the National Arts Merit Awards (Namas), Marowa is riding a wave of success.

Youthful actor and singer Alex Marowa is making a name for himself, racking up nominations and awards for his captivating performances.

Recently nominated for the Outstanding Actor Award at the National Arts Merit Awards (Namas), Marowa is riding a wave of success.

His breakout role came in the popular series A High School Diary, where he played the cunning villain Sgora.

The performance not only earned him recognition, but also shaped his perspective on life and judging others.

“After playing that role, I’ve learnt a lot about life in general. It has made me view people from a different perspective that I didn’t have. I can now say I no longer deem people for what they do or who they are,” Marowa told Standard Style.

His talent has been recognised beyond A High School Diary. He received a nomination for the same category at the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards last year and has appeared in other productions like Chillas, Ndodana in Ziyathunqa and Shakes.

“I am grateful to God above all and I feel like he has my ducks in a row this season,” he said.

“I was stunned to learn that I’ve been nominated again for the same role of Sgora.

“I got overwhelmed with excitement. It actually feels like I’m in a dreamland.

“I never anticipated this at all, I’m really overflowing with happiness.” he said, in reference to the role that introduced him to the rest of the country on A High School Diary.

Marowa is excited about the future, hinting at a new project targeting young people currently in pre-production. He credits his nomination at the Namas for attracting the attention of the production team.

The upcoming Namas, taking place in Bulawayo next Saturday, hold special significance for Marowa.

He applauds the event’s move to the City of Kings and Queens recognising its vibrant arts scene and appreciating the opportunity to network and contribute.

With his dedication, talent, and positive attitude, Marowa is poised for continued success in the Zimbabwean entertainment industry.

The future looks bright for this rising star.
