Yaya Saru to launch debut EP

In an interview with Standard Style, Yaya Saru said she was excited about her EP launch.

MUSICIAN Memory Chinamasa, aka Yaya Saru, will on Friday release her debut Extended Play (EP) titled Songs from My Motherland  at Harare Central Mess.

In an interview with Standard Style, Yaya Saru said she was excited about her EP launch.

“I am so excited, it’s my first baby. l have done some singles before, but this is my first Extended Play (EP) launch,” she said.

The EP carries five tracks including Ndibvumirei, Handikusiyeyi, Slay Queen, Ruben and Rudo, Tsitsi, Runyararo.

It was recorded at Wanane Studios in Tanzania  by former Jah Prayzah’s producer Humphrey Domboka, who is now based in the east African country.

The music on the EP is a blend of Zimbabwean rhythms and dances.

Chinamasa gave an insight of her production.

“Ndibvumirei talks about God's and ancestral protection, Handikusiyeyi is a love song, Rudo,Tsitsi, Runyararo is a song that talks about people to rejoice when one makes it not to hate each other,” she said.

“Slay queen talks about what a woman expects when someone says l love you with a little bit of comedy and Ruben talks about missing a lover who is faraway.

Yaya Saru started her musical journey in 2011and the following year released her debut single titled Umtimawako.

She released another single, which was produced by Clive Mono Mukundu titled  Maputseni  before her collaboration with Jah Prayzah  in a song titled Chengetedza Hupenyu.

She became popular in the music industry in 2021 with her hit song Jongwe Rangu and she also sings with the Zimbabwean prison band.

Besides music Yaya Saru is also into acting and she has featured with Mai Titi and Mma Vee in some of her skits.
