SUBSTITUTE Dumoluhle Lunga scored an equaliser deep into stoppage time to help visitors Bulawayo City snatch a point in an entertaining Premier Soccer League match at the National Sports Stadium yesterday.

Both teams were looking to build on the impressive wins they recorded last week with City causing a major upset after beating Highlanders while Herentals were emphatic 3 – 0 winners away at Hwahwa.

And looking to make the most of home advantage, Herentals were quick off the blocksand took an early lead through former CAPS United striker John Zhuwawu from close range.

Zhuwawu showed goal poacher’s instincts by tapping home a Prince Chama cross to complete a well worked team raid inside four minutes.

Herentals would rue not killing off the match in the first 20 minutes as they threatened to overrun their opponents with a flurry of goal scoring opportunities. City slowly got into the match and created a fair number of chances during the course of the match but could only wait for Lunga who got to the end of a Bulawayo City freekick in a dangerous position and looped the ball over the goalkeeper to ensure a share of the spoils.

Herentals coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva bemoaned the loss of concentration on the part of his defence.

“Concentration level dropped from my boys, particularly the defence. It was a quick freekick, which they utilised where the organisation in the defence was non-existent,” he said.

The visitors caoch Philani Ncube was happy with a point away from home.

“One thing for sure, a point away from home is as good as a win. As much as we wanted three points considering where we are on the log, but thumbs-up to the boys they did well,” Ncube said.
