I believe I have a solution, says Magaya

Aspiring Zifa president and Yadah FC owner Walter Magaya

Aspiring Zifa president and Yadah FC owner Walter Magaya  is leaving no stone unturned in his bid to be the association's president after embarking on a nationwide tour to get an appraisal of the concerns of football stakeholders.

Magaya, who is a favourite among many football fans, said he was still to declare his candidature as he is still consulting with councillors to get their concerns and vision on football.

On Saturday, he met with 15 Zifa councillors where he had a no holds barred meeting with those based in the Midlands province.

"I have been doing meetings in the region to understand what they want. So far I have met with southern and central region," Magaya said.

"According to the two meetings and based on interactions with them, I believe that I have a solution and the announcement will be coming very soon."

It remains to be seen if his bid will sail through after the controversial constitutional amendment.

The association adopted a new constitution which passed before its annual general meeting held in Harare.

One of the new clauses is that a Zifa president and deputies should have a minimum of five 'O’level passes as a requirement.

This Zifa constitution was last changed in 2013 and their recent move was pushed by Fifa as one of the mandates given to the normalisation committee.

Meanwhile, the Zifa normalisation committee whose term ends in January 2025 is spearheading the elections roadmap with the help of Fifa.
