Top goal scorer in the Eastern Region Soccer League, Triangle United striker Stephen Zhogi says he wants to maintain the momentum and keep adding his name to the scoreboard.
Zhogi has managed to mark his name on the score board 12 times since the beginning of the 2024 season.
The top marksman who hails from Shamva is just 21-years-old.
What started as a hobby to him ended up as his career and now he is 100% committed to football.
Zhogi has a knack for scoring crucial goals for the team and possesses excellent positioning, a sharp eye for goal and the ability to finish chances with precision whether from inside or outside the box.
His career started two years ago at Shamva Mine FC.
“My career kick-started when l was signed by Shamva Mine FC in 2022. From Shamva FC l went for trials in Swaziland at Sheasham FC, but then ended up signing for Triangle United FC which is my current team,” he said.
His greatest achievement so far is leading the region's top scorers' chart.
“Being on top of all the strikers in the region is my greatest achievement and this is every striker's dream. Finding the net is the dream," he said.
"The feeling is good, but at the same time l will be under pressure because it is a competition so l have to maintain the lead and register a goal in all the remaining games for me to maintain being at the top.
"So I have to put in a lot of work to it and be crowned the striker of the region at the end of the 2024 season. I am still hungry for more goals," said Zhogi.
"What are some of the challenges that the prolific striker has faced in his career?
“There are a lot of unfortunate situations in the pitch, sometimes you get injured like my situation right now am injured and I could not play the last match which was difficult for my teammates.
"So when you are injured one must be fit again to be able to play which at times can take longer than expected which is a disadvantage. People think it’s easy but being a footballer is not easy at all,” he said.
He added that football has changed his life in a way he has never imagined as he is now able to take care of his family since he is the bread winner.
He has people looking up to him.
Zhogi said he will stop at nothing till he plays for a European team which is his dream.
