Financial institution Nedbank Zimbabwe renewed their partnership with YAFM to retain title sponsorship for the 7th edition of the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke.
The gruelling 328 kilometre tour kicks off from Selous on November 7 and ends in Zvishavane on November 9, 2024.
Over 300 cyclists are expected to take part in this year’s tour, which will see stopovers and activations by YAFM in Chegutu, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Gweru, Shurugwi and Zvishavane.
YAFM head commercial Chenai Mpofu applauded the partnership between Nedbank and the regional radio station for the successful hosting of the tour.
“We are delighted to announce that YAFM and Nedbank have signed a partnership agreement for the 7th edition of the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke. We would like to thank Nedbank for continuing to repose their trust in our ability to organise the premier event on Zimbabwe’s cycling calendar," Mpofu said.
“To our partners, new and old, we have organised robust activations along all key towns and cities from Chegutu to Zvishavane. We want to urge you to seize this opportunity to partner us and push your brands through to the market.”
The Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke was launched in 2016 to promote miner wellness, love for the environment and raise awareness of the investment opportunities in the Great Dyke geological complex which is home to the country’s major mining houses such as Mimosa, Unki, and Zimplats, who all support the tour.
The event also supports the charitable needs of the Gifted Children Foundation which pays for the tuition fees of brilliant but underprivileged children in the Great Dyke and beyond.
To date the foundation has supported over 100 children with some of them progressing to tertiary education institutions.
On the first lap, dubbed the Zimplats lap the cyclists will ride from Selous to Kwekwe where they will put up for the night. The Unki lap will see the cyclists ride from Kwekwe to Unki Mine where they will sleepover before embarking on the Mimosa lap the following morning which will take them to Zvishavane.
