The City of Bulawayo is set to honour female goalkeeper, who starred for Zimbabwe at the 2024 edition of the Homeless World Cup where she emerged goalkeeper of the tournament in South Korea, last month.
Moyo, who was the only lady in the country's mixed team, helped Zimbabwe to a thrilling penalty shootout victory against Denmark which saw them lift the Homeless World Cup D'Live Cup (Tier 4) title in Seoul.
Bulawayo mayor David Coltart will welcome Moyo and the Young Achievement Sports for Development (YASD) team at City Hall for a special welcome ceremony on October 25, 2024.
YASD, who are the custodians of the Homeless World Cup in Zimbabwe, are a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering marginalised youth through sports development programmes.
Moyo's remarkable achievement has captured the hearts of the country, as she became the first female goalkeeper to receive the prestigious Goalkeeper of the Tournament award in the men's category.
This milestone marks a significant breakthrough for women's football and inspires a new generation of young players.
"We are proud to recognise Linnet's outstanding achievement and dedication to the sport," said Coltart. "Her accomplishment is a testament to the talent and resilience of our city's youth, and we are honored to celebrate her success."
The city welcome ceremony will take place at City Hall where Moyo will be recognised for her exceptional skills and contributions to the sport.

Moyo's journey to success is an inspiration to many and is proof that sport can a be a tool to effect change in disadvantaged communities.
Born and raised in Bulawayo, she rose through the ranks of local football, eventually earning a spot on the Zimbabwe Homeless World Cup team.
Her impressive performance in Korea has earned her international recognition and accolades.
"Linnet's achievement is a shining example of what can be accomplished through hard work, determination, and passion.We are proud to have her as part of our team and look forward to her continued success," Zimbabwe Homeless World Cup team manager Joe Kuseka said.
The athlete who hails from Nkulumane 12 made history to become the first female goalkeeper to represent Zimbabwe in the Homeless World Cup .
Moyo's recognition by the country's second biggest city is reminiscent of Zimbabwe's top sprinter Tapiwa Makarau who was honoured in New Mexico for his exploits at the Paris Olympic Games.
