Harare City, Maningi win big

Harare City doubled the lead on 29 minutes through Marlylen Magozore and a minute later, it was 3-0, Mitchell Muhambi coming in with the third goal.

HARARE City Queens and Maningi Youth Soccer Academy were happy travellers after registering emphatic wins in The Heart Women Soccer League Week 23 matches played over the weekend.

Girls Dzetonaz dispatched Midlands State University Queens 5-1 at MSU Ground. Eunice Chibanda opened the floodgates for Harare City with a well-taken penalty in the 13th minute.

Harare City doubled the lead on 29 minutes through Marlylen Magozore and a minute later, it was 3-0, Mitchell Muhambi coming in with the third goal.

MSU reduced the deficit with a consolation goal from Munashe Muzira, but 12 minutes later, it was 4-1 in favour of Harare City courtesy of Mitchell John's goal. Bokani Sibanda scored Harare City's fifth and final goal a minute from full-time. Referee of the day Linet Moyo and her two assistants, Shamiso Sanyanga and Sibusisiwe Moyo, handled a flawless match professionally with no single caution awarded to either team.

Glenview-based Maningi went on the rampage, beating the home team, Hope Academy, 4-0 at Ascot Race Course Ground in Bulawayo.

Maningi ran 2-0 victors at halftime with Tinotenda Taurai and Rudo Machadu scoring in the 11th and 34th minute respectively. Elizabeth Farawo increased the tally after 52 minutes before Memory Kachere's own goal after 62 minutes altered the scoreline to 4-0.

At Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane, Black Rhinos gored down royalty Platinum Royals 3-0. Evergreen Rhinos forward Felistas Muzongondi opened the scoring after 28 minutes, Rutendo Makore netted the second on 68 minutes before Greater Bhande came in from the bench to score the third goal in the 84th minute.

Faith Drive Academy seized the baton from ZRP Harare Queens to whip the police outfit into line winning 4-1 at Mukushi Stadium. Bethel Kondo scored a double netting in either half while Morelife Nyagumbo and Mellinda Marasure also registered themselves on the scoresheet with first and second half goals respectively.

In other matches played on the same day Herentals Queens Queens walloped Highlanders Royals 7-3 at Old Hararians Sports Club in Harare. Chapungu Queens dismissed Black Mambas 2-0 at home at Manyame Ground, Conduit Soccer Academy edged Sheasham Gweru Queens 1-0 at Mudhindo Stadium while the match pitting Correctional Queens against Mutare City at Wagadhungu Stadium did not take off because the visiting Mutare side failed to turn up for the match.
