Simba Bhora goes on top

Sport
SIMBA Bhora

SIMBA Bhora leapfrogged FC Platinum to the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after edging Bulawayo Chiefs  at home at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamwa yesterday.

The victory took their points tally to 47, two ahead of the platinum miners who play their match this after against Bikita Minerals at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare.

Inspirational captain and former FC Platinum forward Walter Musona grabbed the all-important goal for Simba Bhora with a trademark freekick after 25 minutes.

Musona unleashed a thunderbolt with his right boot from long range giving an overstretched Chiefs goalkeeper no chance. The goal sent the Simba faithful into delirium as they anticipated more goals from their heroes.

However, the goal proved to be the only one for the afternoon but a very important one as it catapulted the Shamva-based side to the summit of the table.

In other PSL matches played yesterday, Herentals edged Greenfuel 2-1 at Rufaro Stadium in Harare to move from number nine to number seven with 32 points.

ZPC Kariba beat Arenel Movers 1-0 at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo sliding two places in the positive from number 12 to 10 with 29 points.
