DEFENDING champion Ngezi Platinum Stars failed to score for a fourth game in a row after they played a goaless draw at home to GreenFuel at Boabab yesterday.

It was Ngezi Platinum's fourth draw in as many matches and have not won a match since their  1 - 0 win over Arenel in June.

The team struggles upfront come at a time when the team is preparing to make their debut on the CAF Champions League.

Coach Takesure Chiragwi felt they got a big point, which will be valuable in the long run.

"Firstly I thank God and secondly I want to thank the players in terms of effort and performance," Chiragwi said.

"Obviously we wanted to win but football is like that today we got some few chances but we failed to score. We scored another one but it was flagged offside. Probably the referee was in a good position, but we thought we got the goal that will give us three points and it ended 0 - 0 so we take the points. I think the point is important because it's adding to what we have as well," he said.

The hosts were the stronger of the two sides at the beginning, but failed to create clear cut chances and allowed the visitors to get into the game.

It was GreenFuel who got the game's first big chance after Joseph Nguluve robbed goalkeeper Nelson Chadya outside box and squared the ball to Donald Ngoma who failed to beat defender Polite Moyo who made a goal line clearance halfway through the first half. Moments later it was Tinotenda Murasiranwa who broke free but blazed his effort wide of goal.

Nigel Makumbe had an early chance in the second half from inside the box, but his shot was tame and Tendai Chirara made an easy save.

Claude Mapoka crashed his well taken volley from the edge of the box after getting to the end of Never Tigere's cross.

GreenFuel immediately attacked and Webster Dombo missed another seater directing his head  wide with Chadya at sea following across by Nguluve.

Ngezi thought they had nosed ahead with a quarter of the match remaining through a Marvelous Mukumba header from Qadr Amini cross, but the the goal was ruled offside .

The visitors went into the match unbeaten in three games.

"We would have loved all three. We came here looking to grind all three points and we want to salute the boys for the manner in which they played. We survived a couple of scary moments and we also created our own at the end of the day a draw was a fair result," assistant coach Taurayi Mangwiro said.
