CHICKEN INN Football club finally remembered how to win after edging a labouring Arenel Movers at Luveve Stadium in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played yesterday afternoon.

Brian Muza scored the only goal of the match, which the Gamecocks could have won by a wider margin but they were thwarted by the heroics of goalkeeper Delron Chuma who was impeccable all afternoon.

Arenel Movers started off brightlybut their dominance however yielded no result.

Once Chicken Inn got back into the game, they started to create clear-cut opportunities.

Muza broke the deadlock after Chuma had made triple saves, though the goal came under fortuitous circumstances.

Mwenda's attempt to clear the ball after Chuma had thwarted Brighton Makopa's effort struck Muza and trickled into the back of the net.

Protests from Arenel players that there was an infringement on Arthur Ndlovu were waved away by referee Kwanele Manende.

Chicken Inn continued where they left off in the second half, however poor finishing was their major undoing.

At the stroke of full-time, Ndlovu almost equalised for Arenel, but Chicken Inn goalkeeper Bernard Donovan dived full stretch to palm his header away from a Njabulo Ngwenya cross.

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas was a relieved man after the victory.

"It was a difficult game. You all know Arenel is a stubborn and plucky side. "So for us to collect maximum points from them is good especially after a barren spell; for about six games we have been dropping points, so it's a welcome relief for us. Hopefully going forward, it will give us the confidence that we need to continue and have a good second half,”said Antipas.

Arenel Movers coach Farai Tawachera was full of praise for goalkeeper Chuma, who put up a man of the match performance.

"I would have done injustice if I don't talk about the goalkeeper. He was spot on. I said to the coach, we have played the first choice, we lose, we play the third choice we lose, why not give him a chance. This boy managed to shine. When we played Bulawayo Chiefs he was there and did well.

"Today, he was there, he did well. I think for me, he was the man of the match," said Tawachera.

Meanwhile in Chisumbanje, Green Fuel held highly fancied Simba Bhora to a one — all draw in a highly entertaining match.  Walter Musona gave the visitors an early goal before Chris Ngwende equalised late in the first half.

Referee Jimmy Makwanda, who has been outstanding since the start of season half, had another brilliant performance in the middle.
