subscribed fundraising golf day which was held at Borrowdale Brooke Golf Estate in Harare last Saturday.

The event was won by Strongbow Slicers who finished with 94 points while Aura Holdings were second with 89 points and Simbia B settled for third place with 87 points.

Simbisa Brands were the platinum sponsors for the event.

“The event was successful, with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves. The course was fully booked, with all 18 holes sponsored. The competition format was a Stableford 4-Ball Alliance over 18 holes, set against the stunning backdrop of the golf course and supported by the club’s immaculate and efficient facilities. We were so grateful to the Manager of the Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club for his assistance in planning the day.  We had a wonderful array of prizes kindly donated by our valued sponsors,” Healing with Horses Zimbabwe administrator Suzie Kirkman said.

Healing with Horses Zimbabwe, whose mission is to heal Children and Communities through Equine Assisted Services, was established in 2013 and is transforming lives through the magical connection between humans and horses.

“Healing with Horses Zimbabwe, located in the heart of Bulawayo, is all about transforming lives through the magical connection between humans and horses. We offer free equine-assisted services to those facing various challenges, focusing especially on vulnerable children. Our aim is to foster healing, growth, and personal development.

“We have a big dream to expand our reach and assist more individuals in need, especially underprivileged children who receive little support due to economic challenges in Zimbabwe. We hope to grow our services nationwide, creating a sanctuary where people from all backgrounds can find empowerment and healing through interactions with our horses.

“We believe deeply in the healing power of human-horse interactions for emotional, physical, and psychological well-being. Our safe, nurturing environment helps vulnerable children and adults develop empathy, communication, trust, and resilience. We strive to build a supportive community that fosters positive change and brighter futures for Zimbabweans.

“Our values are simple yet powerful: compassion, integrity, collaboration, continuous learning, and inclusivity. We care deeply about our equine partners and advocate for their well-being while creating a welcoming space for everyone. Our programs include therapeutic horseback riding and equine-facilitated learning. Participants engage in activities that build trust, confidence, and communication skills, helping them address trauma, manage stress, and overcome challenges.

“Since our founding in 2013, we have been committed to addressing the needs of children with different abilities who often face stigma. After demonstrating the benefits of therapeutic riding to local physiotherapists, we saw immediate and profound transformations in the children. From starting with just six children from a crisis centre, we now serve 180 children each week, providing them with a sense of self-worth and community.

“As we wish to offer our services free to the many Children and Communities in need, we are constantly looking to raise funds to keep our program operating,”  Kirkman said.
