HIGHLANDERS have made one of the major coups in the current player transfer window after snapping up Bulawayo Chiefs top marksman Never Rauzhi on loan until the end of the season.

The Bulawayo giants’ chief executive officer Sihlangu Dlodlo confirmed they had acquired the services of Rauzhi (23).

However, he did not reveal the finer financial details of the deal.

Rauzhi arrived at Chiefs at the start of the season and has impressed so far, netting six goals to date.

He becomes the second key player to depart from the financially struggling Chiefs camp after midfielder Miguel Feldman, who moved to Chicken Inn.

Dlodlo also said coach Kelvin Kaindu was assessing two other strikers, Nqobile Ndlovu, whose last club was Sua Flamingoes of Botswana, and Proud Khuphe who plays for Mainline in the Southern Region Soccer League club in Division One.

“We have agreed terms with Bulawayo Chiefs and they have released [Never] Rauzhi to us on loan for six months. The coach [Kaindu] is also looking at two strikers, Proud Khuphe and Nqobile Ndlovu and we will have something concrete by the end of day today [yesterday],” Dlodlo said.

Ndlovu is a former Bulawayo City striker and was at Green Fuel last year where he scored six goals before he was released to join Sua Flamingoes.

Khuphe was the top goalscorer in the Southern Region Division One league last year with 17 goals.

The Bulawayo giants have decided to beef up their strike force in response to a goal drought that has hit their forwards.

Strikers Lynoth Chikuhwa and Brighton “MaNinja” Ncube started the season well, but faltered along the way and Kaindu has bemoaned a lack of depth in his squad.

Chikuhwa has banged in seven goals so far, one behind league leading goal scorer William Manondo of Caps United.

Highlanders, perching on fifth on the log table with 26 points going into the second half of the season, face Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
