TELONE and Bulawayo Chiefs shared the spoils in a drab Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Bata stadium yesterday.

Tadiwa Muchenje scored the first goal of the match for Bulawayo Chiefs before Malvin Kwinjo restored parity for TelOne from a penalty.

This was, however, a respite for TelOne following two defeats to Yadah and Dynamos and coach Tendai Chikuni was also relieved.

"The two defeats affected, but it's good that we got a point today. Now we shift focus to the Simba Bhora game at the weekend," Chikuni said.

"Our players are still improving and we are changing the team so that we pick the right combinations and give all youngsters the chance."

His counterpart Thulani Sibanda said: "TelOne did well in the second half where we struggled to contain them. We got this point away, which is important for us.

"Right now, we have to pick as many points as we can, both and home and away. Overally, I am happy with my team."

There was nothing to write home about in the first half, except the heroic clearance by Admire Dzumbunu on the goal line after 20 minutes, to deny Chiefs' Never Rauzhi a goal.

They remained deadlocked at the break, but the WiFi boys came back with more impetus, yet lack of precision let them down.

Chiefs remained calm and composed amid the massive pressure from the hosts. And they caught them off-guard on the 75th minute, when Muchenje headed the ball home from a corner-kick.

TelOne earned a penalty on the 82nd minute when Collins Chidomaya was fouled in the box. And Kwinjo made no mistake from the spot-kick.

From then on, Washington Navaya twice failed to beat goalie Prosper Matutu from close range, as TelOne searched for the winning goal.
