Divine insight: Let your light shine

Religion Zone
Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

BY HUMPHREY MTANDWA

When you switch on a light in a dark room it expels the darkness immediately. The Bible in the book of Philippians says we are blameless and called to shine as lights in the world, meaning we are called to expel darkness or its fruits in our nations, homes and environments. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Note the scripture above says let “your” light so shine meaning you already possess this light and the responsibility for it to shine is yours. Light in itself is pure, meaning whatever environment it is put in, it changes that environment. Have you noticed that when you switch on a blue light or a coloured light it changes the colour in that room. Showing us as Christians that any environment we shine our light in should conform to the image or the character of our light.

Daniel was implanted into a heathen nation, but he allowed his light to shine so bright that all the kings he served acknowledged the most-high God. When our lights shine those around us see the fruits of God’s goodness through our lives. We are the ones that bear the fruits meaning evidence of having a relationship with God is seen in our lives. The blessing of God though it is spiritual, it manifests in our world as physical fruits. Apostle Paul said if we plant spiritual things should we not be partakers of the physical fruits from your lives? Showing us for every spiritual transaction it should produce fruits in the natural. Again, as we look at the scripture in Matthew 5, we notice that it says as your light shines people see your good works not God’s works, but yours, meaning whatever you produce takes your identity. The queen of Babylon speaking about Daniel says there is a man in your kingdom with the spirit of the gods, who has an excellent spirit and is able to dissolve all doubts. Daniel allowed his light to shine so bright that people around him acknowledged his gifts and abilities. When your light shines people see your good works and through that acknowledge, your father in heaven.

It is time for you to manifest the light in your lives. Remember light expels darkness showing us the darkness around you is because you are not shining and manifesting your light. Those in your family are waiting for your light, Joseph allowed his family to be preserved from famine because his light was shining, David killed a giant and delivered his nation from oppression because his light was shining. The environment around you is waiting for your light to manifest. As believers many things have challenged our position in Christ but unless you let your light shine, you may not be able to change that place. It is your responsibility to judge your environment with the light in you. Many things are speaking contrary to what Gods has said and God has sent you as a judge in your environment to deliver God’s will through the light within you. Your nation is waiting for you to expel darkness in whatever sector you are working in. Are you a goodly leader within that environment, are you expelling corruption, are you calling for there to be fruits in that place or you have given into the darkness of that environment? Daniel could have eaten the meat and the drank the wine, but he understood he could not allow anything to corrupt the light in him, you are called to be the change your environment is looking for. It is time to shine.

God bless you.
