EcoCash unveils ‘request money’ service

News
Speaking on the unveiling of the service, Munyaradzi Nhamo, the EcoCash chief operating officer, said the new service would enable customers to instantly secure mobile money transfers from their family and friends on the mobile money platform, in the case of emergencies or any unforeseen financial needs.

BY OWN CORRESPONDENT EcoCash has unveiled a new and convenient service that allows EcoCash users to ask for money from friends or family on the EcoCash platform.

The new ‘Request Money’ service, which is modelled along the lines of the ‘Call Me Back’ feature on mobile networks, is designed to be a fast, transparent and secure method of initiating quick requests for money, the company said.

Speaking on the unveiling of the service, Munyaradzi Nhamo, the EcoCash chief operating officer, said the new service would enable customers to instantly secure mobile money transfers from their family and friends on the mobile money platform, in the case of emergencies or any unforeseen financial needs.

“We are excited to launch this service which offers more choice and convenience to our customers wherever and whenever they need some money,” Nhamo said.

“We believe the service will come in handy for families that stay apart, as in the case of relatives or dependents living in the rural areas or at the farm.

“They will find it much easier now to reach out and quickly request for some money to meet urgent needs.

“The service will also be useful for families or individuals that find themselves in emergency situations, be they of a medical or a personal nature, where they urgently need some money.”

The Request Money service will be free, with the normal transaction and statutory charges applicable to the sender of the money, if they accept the request and send the money.

Nhamo said the launch of the new service came at a time when many people have often experienced the embarrassment of running out of funds, or having their card payment transaction declined at the till point in a shop, or when paying bills.

“With the new Request Money service, customers will avoid such embarrassment by being able to instantly request money from their friends or family members, and receiving it securely and in real time,” he said.

EcoCash, Zimbabwe’s leading money platform and a subsidiary of EcoCash Holdings Zimbabwe limited, is integrated to Zimbabwe’s financial payments ecosystem.
