A Harare man has appeared in court on charges of indecently assaulting his 17-year-old niece.
The accused person, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim was remanded in custody by Harare magistrate Tilda Mazhande.
Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje said on January 9, the complainant was at home when she received a phone call from the accused person asking her to open the gate for him.
He entered the house and sat in the dining room while the complainant proceeded to the kitchen where she was preparing supper.
The court heard that the accused person later followed the complainant to the kitchen where he started fondling her breasts without her consent.
He allegedly forced her to play with his private parts.
He later left, leaving her with US$2 to buy her silence.
The matter came to light when the complainant’s mother arrived at home and found her daughter crying.
