POLICE in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt for two suspects who allegedly lured a man to a local sports bar, where they stabbed and left him for dead on Tuesday evening.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednigo Ncube yesterday said the 46-year-old man from Burnside was lured to a local sports bar by Lameck Mguni (32) of Douglasdale and an unknown accomplice.
He said when the man arrived at the bar, Mguni and his accomplice asked him to accompany them to Starling Drive to collect some sex workers.
“When they were a few metres from the bar, one of them picked an iron bar from the bush and used it to assault the complainant all over the body. They further used an Okapi knife to stab the complainant several times on the head,” Ncube said.
He said the accused persons fled into a nearby bush, leaving the complainant bleeding profusely lying on the ground.
The police said the complainant sustained a swollen head, deep cuts on the head, a cut on the nose, bruises on the hands and legs as a result of the assault.
He sought help and a police report was made, but the accused persons could not be located.
Meanwhile, a 29-year-old man from Emakhandeni high-density suburb, Bulawayo, is fighting for his life at Mpilo Central Hospital after he was stabbed several times by a man who accused him of dating his girlfriend.

Godfrey Manyoka (36) went to the complainant’s place of residence on Tuesday at 1am to confront him.
A misunderstanding reportedly ensued and Manyoka stabbed the complainant with an Okapi knife on the back, right side of the chest and right leg.
“A police report was then made, leading to the arrest of the accused person and the recovery of the knife,” Ncube said, further reiterating that carrying dangerous weapons is prohibited and that people should desist from perpetrating violence.
