The media studies student, Khayelihle Tshuma, suffered injuries to her spine during the accident that took place on April 10.

A National University of Science and Technology (Nust) student has been admitted at Bulawayo’s Mpilo Hospital since last month after she fell from a rooftop during a film shooting assignment.

The media studies student, Khayelihle Tshuma, suffered injuries to her spine during the accident that took place on April 10.

Tshuma was shooting a clip for a film based module when she fell from the rooftop.

Her  fellow classmate Gladys Mvura spoke of the trauma that she suffered after the incident.

“For the first week after what happened, I could not sleep,” she said.

Tshuma’s father, Ernest, said the family has incurred huge medical bills since the accident happened.

“The student medical aid has also paid out about US$1 100 for Khaya’s spinal surgery as well as the US$800 that was needed for her MRI scan,” he said.

Thabani Mpofu, the Nust director of communications and marketing, asked for questions to be sent to his email address but had not responded at the time of going to print.
