Accountants see financial spoils from Sadc Industrialisation Week

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Zimbabwe recently held its 2024 Winter School, which served as a vital forum for accountants to discuss and analyse the economic opportunities that the Industrialisation Week presents.

ACCOUNTANTS say the upcoming Sadc Industrialisation Week presents financial spinoffs for various sectors of the economy, particularly tourism.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Zimbabwe recently held its 2024 Winter School, which served as a vital forum for accountants to discuss and analyse the economic opportunities that the Industrialisation Week presents.

Senior accountant Stanley Gwanzura shared his positive outlook about the upcoming event.

“This event presents immense opportunities for Zimbabwe to integrate more deeply into the regional market and showcase our economic potential,” he said.

“We are optimistic about attracting significant regional projects and reaping numerous benefits from both the Industrialisation Week and the accompanying summit.”

Hempac Holdings chairperson Emilia Chisango also emphasised the strategic advantages of hosting the event.

“With many accounting firms in the Sadc region owned by Zimbabweans, hosting this event significantly enhances our capacity to connect with and tap into the regional market,” she remarked.

Charity Mtwazi, a partner in Audit and Assurance at Deloitte, said the Sadc Industrialisation Week offered vast opportunities.

“Focusing on the long-term benefits is essential for positioning Zimbabwe as a competitive and attractive business destination,” she noted.

Zimbabwe will host over 150 firms from across Sadc during the event set for next month.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will assume the post of Sadc chairperson next month during a follow-up Heads of State and Government Summit in Harare.
