NRZ spokesperson Andrew Kunambura said the enginemen would be trained for a period of four years.

“The NRZ is offering a Train Driver Course to all who are interested in this profession for job opportunities in the NRZ or in the regional (Southern African Development Community) Railway Industry. A learning period of four (4) years, two (2) of which will be on-job training,” Kunambura said.

He said NRZ certification would be awarded for driving five classes of locomotives (vacuum and air braked trains).

“The requirement for the application is 5 O Levels including English language, Mathematics and a Science [subject] and be aged between 18 and 25 years.

“Candidates are expected to be physically fit to handle the demands of the train working job and be of minimum 1,65 and maximum 1,93 metres height. A non-refundable administration fee of US$10 must be paid on submission of an application,” Kunambura said.
