Starlink partners with IMC Communications to revolutionise Zim's digital landscape

THE Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) has awarded IMC Communications an internet service provider (ISP) licence, marking a significant milestone in the firm's bid to partner with Starlink as an approved reseller agent.

This development follows Potraz's announcement last month that it had licensed Starlink, a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) internet services provider owned by United States billionaire Elon Musk.

Starlink's entry into Zimbabwe's information and communication technology sector is expected to reduce the cost of digital and internet services, a crucial aspect of business processes in the digital era.

This aligns with the government's policy on technology and innovation-driven growth, as President Mnangagwa has emphasised the importance of innovation, science, and technology.

Starlink's satellite internet service is poised to revolutionise Zimbabwe's digital landscape by providing faster, cheaper, and uninterrupted connectivity.

Experts predict that this technology could redefine the future of data and digital services in the country.

Moreover, Starlink's satellite coverage will extend internet connectivity to remote areas, promoting inclusivity and enabling Zimbabweans to participate in the country's digital economy.

Other companies, such as TelOne, Frampol and Dandemutande, have also been authorised to resell Starlink services in Zimbabwe.

This competition is expected to drive innovation and improve services in the sector.
