Zimplow appoints Kumalo as new chairperson

Zimplow Holdings Limited chairperson Benjamin Nkosentya Kumalo

DIVERSIFIED firm, Zimplow Holdings Limited, has appointed Benjamin Nkosentya Kumalo as its new chairperson.

Kumalo replaces Godfrey Tsikayi Manhambara who resigned from the group at the end of July.

“The board of directors of Zimplow Holdings Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Benjamin Nkosentya Kumalo as the chairperson of the board of directors of Zimplow Holdings Limited with effect from July 31, 2024,” Zimplow said.

Kumalo is a chartered accountant by profession with over 40 years’ experience in financial reporting and management, business management and strategy formulation, corporate governance and risk management.

The business executive is a former board chairman of FBC Building Society, ZimRe Holdings Limited, Chemplex Corporation Limited and Willowvale Motor Industries. He has extensive experience in the manufacturing, tourism and automotive industries, Zimplow said.

“He was appointed as a non-executive director of Zimplow Holdings Limited with effect from November 2020 and served as the chairperson of the Zimplow audit, risk and compliance committee until July 2024.”

In May, Zimplow revealed that it had pivoted its efforts towards positioning Develon and FAW as products of choice.

Zimplow, through its subsidiary Tractive Power Solutions, is the holder of two major original equipment manufacturer distributorships, namely Develon, formerly Doosan   mining and construction equipment, and FAW haulage and specialised trucks.

The group is aggressively implementing its “one-stop shop” strategy, which seeks to harness the synergistic capabilities that the group has.

Further strategies to improve sales and service of its products and maintain its focus on cost containment will also be pursued.

Zimplow noted that Manhambara had contributed immensely to its achievements from the time he joined the board in January 2013.

During his tenure as chairman, Manhambara served with distinction and showed impeccable leadership as he steered the group towards its expansion path,”Zimplow said.

Manhambara’s stewardship led the firm to notable milestones such as the acquisition of Scanlink, Trentyre and Birmingham Properties, the company added.

This, Zimplow said, helped transform the group into a one-stop shop and an integrated engineering services provider for customers within the agriculture, mining, infrastructure and logistics business sectors.
