Utakataka Express band leader Peter “Dewa” Moyo last Tuesday celebrated his 31st birthday in style after having paid lobola for his fiancée at a ceremony in Bulawayo.

Dogged by a controversial love life, Moyo and an entourage from his family made the trip to “The City of Kings” where he paid an undisclosed sum for the hand in marriage of Caroline Makamache.

Once a resident of Kambuzuma Section 1 in Harare, Makamache now lives in Texas, the USA, and she and Moyo have been an item in a two year-relationship that has withstood the test of time and distance dating back to 2018.

The woman (who reportedly has children from a previous relationship) runs a non-governmental organisation, Rutendo Hope Foundation, founded in 2018, which seeks to assist and empower the underprivileged, particularly women. She also has a gospel music background, having released a track titled Rudo Rwenyu in 2019.

Moyo recently assumed the “taken” tag, ending what has arguably been a rather eventful bachelorhood during which he was rumoured to have dated a list of women that is as long as the arm. Among these were Naledi Kaisara (Slizer), one Mercy Gumbo and one Ququ Museredza.

“I’ve been dating Caro for years. However, we were distant that we couldn’t make it public. It’s only five months ago that we decided to open up about our friendship. I really feel appreciated, Caroline is like a best friend to me,” Moyo said.

Reciprocally, Makamache sent Moyo a hearty message in recognition of his birthday last Tuesday, stating in a love-laden post on social media: “Help me celebrate a man among man (sic) in my world. A man who I submit myself to in all completeness. A rare kind of man who in spite of what obstacles were thrown in our relationship, still chose to honour me this way.” CONTINUED ON PAGE S5
