The duo recently completed a joint project — a single — that is sung in their respective mother tongues.

Mutsvene, who is in Zambia for the recording deal, told The Standard Style last week that they had completed recording the track titled Yerusalem, alongside Gondwe, whose music is doing well in the neighbouring country.

“So far, we have finished one track and we have also partnered in opening a studio in Ndola with this powerful woman of God,” Mutsvene said.

She was full of praise of the Zambian gospel queen’s musical prowess and was confident that the the sky was the limit for the pair.

“I see her going far in the gospel music ministry, even when she performs, you can feel the vibe and the presence of the Lord in her,” she said.

Mutsvene said she was surprised after discovering that her music was also appreciated in Zambia and added that her collaboration with Gondwe, which they did in Shona and Bemba languages, was going to enhance the two musicians’ profiles in the two countries.

“The title Yerusalem is in Bemba. It talks about going to heaven and how we are going to celebrate with our Saviour,” she said.

Gondwe said she was humbled to be blessed with the opportunity to minister alongside a singer of Mutsvene’s calibre who was very popular in both countries.

She also revealed that the two musicians met through “a special person” and spoke the same language of worship.

“She is a worshipper at heart and so I am. In our case, worship brought us to terms and the feeling was mutual. Together we sought the face of God and we bring to you music from inside us as guided by the Holy Spirit,” said Gondwe.

“I believe we shall connect as you listen to our ministry. I love you all, I am your daughter. We are completing our album which we have just started and by God’s grace it’s coming out next year.

“We also intend to open our studio in the Copperbelt and our call is to record gospel music only.

“We are confident that by July next year we shall be talking of a full studio running.”

After completing school, Gondwe, who had started singing at a tender age in the United Church of Zambia, did a collaboration with her sister titled Sister’s and Son in 2009, which was well-received by the Zambian market.
