National team coaches get golf balls from Titleist

Africa High Performance Programme received sponsored Titleist Range balls during the All Africa Golf Team Championship at Bulawayo Golf Club recently.

A total of four national team golf coaches from four different countries which are part of the Africa High Performance Programme received sponsored Titleist Range balls during the All Africa Golf Team Championship at Bulawayo Golf Club recently.

Zimbabwean coach Simon Murungweni, whose team finished third at the biennial continental championship, was one of the coaches who benefitted from the benevolent gesture by the world’s top golf equipment brand which is based in America.

Sponsored by Titleist the balls are intended to be used by the coaches with the FlightScope Mevo + launch monitor devices which have already been provided to them by The R&A.

These quality balls are to ensure that playing data collected by the coaches on their HP Players  —  is accurate and reliable for them in their coaching work.

Others who benefited are coaches from Egypt, Zambia and Uganda.

Eden Thompson R & A Golf Development Manager for Africa and Kevin Barker, the director of golf development at the R&A covering Great Britain and Africa, presented the Titleist Range Balls to the

Barker expressed gratitude to Titleist for the donation, saying it will help ease coaches’ jobs.

“I want to thank Titleist for their very kind donation of these practice balls to the national coaches. I am sure that will help them in their jobs. It’s a really important partnership with the R&A. We want to generate more, better top level players and I think this will help the coaches do their jobs better. We thank the support of Titleist and good luck to all the coaches,” said Barker.

Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) president Martin Chikwana was also full of praise for  R & A and Titleist following the donation which would go a long way in aiding golf development across the continent.

 “We are so grateful to R&A for ensuring that we continue to equip and capacitate the coaches so that eventually, the players produce good results. A big thank you to Titleist who have generously donated to the programme, we are so grateful.” Chikwana said.
