All set for the Sterling Hotels International Pairs final

A total of 120 golfers from around the country are set to take part in the Sterling Hotels International Pairs golf final which is set to tee off at Elephant Hills  Golf Course in Victoria Falls tomorrow.

It is  a  culmination  of  a series of qualifiers that were held across 90% of the country’s golf course since this year’s edition of the event was launched in Bulawayo in June.

This year’s competition has been made special by the coming on board of Sterling Group of Hotels as the sponsors of the event which will see the winners of the national final earn the ticket to fly the flag at the world finals in Tenerife Spain from 30 September to 4 October.

 About 30 Countries will be represented at the world finals in Spain.

Sterling Hotels Matebeleland general manager Fungai Mutseyekwa confirmed that all is now in place for an exciting national final event.

“We are gathered here today to announce the culmination of an exciting golfing journey that has seen participation from 90% of golf clubs across Zimbabwe. We are proud to announce that the Sterling Hotels International Pairs Golf Tournament National Finals will be held this Saturday, the 17th of August 2024, at the prestigious Victoria Falls at the Elephant Hills Golf Course,” he said at a press briefing in Bulawayo on Wednesday.

“The Sterling Group of Hotels is honoured to be the anchor sponsor of this prestigious tournament.

“We see this partnership as a strategic alignment with our brand’s commitment to excellence, sportsmanship, and community engagement. Our decision to grab this tournament as an annual event on the Sterling calendar, underscores our belief in its potential to elevate the golfing landscape in Zimbabwe and contribute to the growth of sports tourism in our beautiful country, endowed with world renowned natural attractions and heritage sites.

“The Sterling Hotels International Pairs Golf Tournament has witnessed an overwhelming response from golf enthusiasts across the country. The competition has been fierce, with golfers battling it out on various courses to secure their spot in the national finals.

“The winners of the Victoria Falls showdown will proudly represent Zimbabwe at the Pairs International Finals, to be held in Tenerife, Spain, from late September to early October. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the 120 finalists and wish the eventual winners the very best as they carry the Zimbabwean flag high on the international stage. A big Sterling thank you to the many who participated but could not make it to the finals.

“You all made this event possible through your participation. Next year could be your turn,” Mutseyekwa said.

Mutseyekwa announced that sister company Sterling Travel and Tours, has provided two luxury coaches to facilitate the transportation of participants from Harare to Victoria Falls and back.
