Malawi's General of the Golf Course grace historic Sachiez tourney

In a groundbreaking event, Sachiez Golf hosted the Generals of the Golf Course from Malawi in a three-day ProAm tournament which was held at Royal Harare Golf Club, Chapman Golf Club, and Country Club in Harare, Zimbabwe last week.

This inaugural event, which took place from July 4th to 6th, 2024, aimed to foster stronger relations between the two golf societies and pave the way for future collaborations.

The tournament attracted 80 players, including seasoned professionals and amateur golfers.

Royal Harare Golf Club president Tam Mpofu welcomed the visitors from Malawi and expressed his hope for a lasting partnership between the two societies.

The event was graced by dignitaries from both countries, including Ulemu Luhanga, Secretary General of the Malawi Golf Union, and Roza Mbilizi, Commander in Chief of the Generals of the Golf Course.

Biggie Chibvuri won the category for professional golfers after shooting an impressive round of 6 – under par 66 and was five shots ahead of second placed Trynos Muradzwika who shot 71 while Tongoona Charamba, Tonderai Masunga and Tatenda Makunde tied for third on level par.

In the amateur category, Mbilizi emerged as the overall winner with 113 points, followed by Bond Muronzi and Clive Majoni.

The tournament was sponsored by Dawn Property Consultancy, Pick Me Up Chickens, Speciss College, Grant Thornton, Sakurai Mbanda, and the Zim Challenge Tour.

The event also coincided with Malawi's 80th Independence celebrations and a moment of silence was observed to honor the late Vice President of Malawi, Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima.

In his closing remarks, Wilson Seremani, CEO of Speciss College and Patron of Sachiez, thanked the participants and assured the visitors of continued support in golf and various business endeavors.

Orbid Hunidzarira, a Sachiez Trustee, concluded the historic tour by emphasizing the beginning of a strong and symbiotic relationship in golf that will extend beyond the course and geographic boundaries.

The successful tournament marked the start of a new chapter in the relationship between Sachiez Golf and the Generals of the Golf Course from Malawi, promising a bright future for golf in both countries.
