Ngezi Platinum, Dembare win as FC Platinum draw

After Cranborne sportingly granted the champions a guard of honour before the match the host showed no mercy in the field of play as they raced to a two goal lead inside the first 17 minutes.

NEWLY-CROWNED champions Ngezi Platinum Stars continued with their rich vein of form after dispatching already relegated 3 - 1 Cranborne Bullets at Baobab Stadium yesterday.

It was Madamburo’s 20th win of the season and third on the trot, which took them to 66 points on the log standings, with just one match remaining.

After Cranborne sportingly granted the champions a guard of honour before the match the host showed no mercy in the field of play as they raced to a two goal lead inside the first 17 minutes.

Bruno Mtigo opened the scoring with a cool finish in the 15th minute before Tapiwa Mandinyenya doubled the lead two minutes later.

Bullets pulled a goal back from the penalty spot, Brian Muzondiwa converting early in the second half before Claude Mapoka put the gloss on the scoreline just before the hour mark after coming on as a substitute.

At the national Sports Stadium Dynamos made a claim of the second sport after a narrow 1 – 0 over relegation threatened Green Fuel.

Unheralded defender Tendaishe Magwaza headed home the solitary goal after just 12 minutes from an Issa Sadiki corner kick.

Dynamos are now on 57 points, three points ahead of third-placed Manica Diamonds who host Highlanders at Gibbo today.

Outgoing champions FC Platinum laboured to a disappointing one-all draw with Hwange in what was veteran defender Gift Bello’s final home match for the club.

Juan Mutudza gave Pure Platinum Play the lead at the start of the second half before Brighton Makopa restored parity half way through the second stanza.

Gift Mbweti was red carded late in the match.

The result means that FC Platinum  can no longer finish in second place.
