Man jailed for theft of TelOne cables

The complainant was  Telone, which was represented by Rodger Gwenjere (41).

A 24 year-old Harare man was on Friday sentenced to 10years in jail for stealing Telone drop wires .

Wellington Mbaraza was facing charges of contravening the Telecommunications Regulatory Act when he appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo.

The complainant was  Telone, which was represented by Rodger Gwenjere (41).

Prosecutor Nomsa Kangara said on August 9, Mbaraza stole Telone drop wires along Mclliwaine Crescent, Belvedere.

Gwenjere managed to prove that Mbaraza rolled the drop wires into six bundles before placing them in a white sack. Mbaraza was seen by a caretaker who approached him, recovered the drop wires and apprehended him.

On August 9, the recovered drop wires were weighed at National Railways of Zimbabwe and were found to be  three kilogrammes.
