Man nabbed for fatal shooting

News
Samoyo and his accomplices allegedly assaulted the now deceased with iron bars and a golf stick all over demanding cash and other valuables.

A breakthrough in a four-year-old murder case has led to the arrest of a 41-year-old man from Kuwadzana 7.

The suspect, Jealous Samoyo, who was taken into custody last week, is alleged to have been involved in the fatal shooting of a man in Mabvuku after he was found in possession of a firearm linked to the crime.

Samoyo appeared before Harare magistrate Simon Kandiyero who remanded him in custody to September 25 to allow the state to merge his record with that of his co-accused who is already in custody.

Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira said on July 11, 2019 Samoyo was in the company of Job Vambe, also in remand, and others who are still at large when they hatched a plan to rob the now deceased Wellington Marongedze.

He said Samoyo and his accomplices proceeded to Marongedze’s place of residence with iron bars and a firearm. The court heard that they then forced entry into the house and proceeded to Marongedze’s bedroom where they found him asleep with his wife.

Samoyo and his accomplices allegedly assaulted the now deceased with iron bars and a golf stick all over demanding cash and other valuables.

According to Chanakira, one of them fired one shot towards the roof threatening to kill the now deceased.

They took US$1 000 and an Itel cell phone and disappeared in the night. The victim succumbed to injuries on July 28. -
