Court forces man to support offspring

Cathrine Tawenga was granted the garnish order by Harare magistrate Meenal Narotam after her ex-lover Kudzanai Kapeperi admitted to defaulting since January.

A HARARE court last week issued a garnish order to a man who had allegedly stopped paying maintenance for his child.

Cathrine Tawenga was granted the garnish order by Harare magistrate Meenal Narotam after her ex-lover Kudzanai Kapeperi admitted to defaulting since January.

Tawenga told the court that the respondent was ordered to pay US$50 every month last year, but had stopped giving her the money.

Kapeperi agreed to clearing the arrears through a garnishee order.

Kapeperi said he was servicing another loan which left his salary at US$ 88.

The court ordered that US$100 be garnished from his account for the next four months.
