A MATOPO-BASED environment conservation organisation has organised a clean-up campaign for the heritage site where Cecil John Rhodes is buried.
Rhodes was buried atop a granite hill in the Matobo National Park.
More Knowledge With Action Conservation Education founder Nqobile Mkhwananzi, said there was a lot of pollution at Matopo Hills.
“There is a lot of pollution in terms of litter,” he said after the first round of clean-up campaigns held on Friday.
“From now till September we will be conducting more clean-ups to make sure our heritage site is clean, as you know first impressions make lasting impressions, so we want to have those impressions on our tourists."
"The senior manager for Parks and Wildlife Management Authority urged us to conduct a clean-up exercise inside the park; so that is our next agenda.”
Chief Nyangazonke Ndiweni pledged to provide a truck for the clean-up campaign.
Matopo Hills was declared a World Heritage Site in 2003.
