5 arrested over Wedza murder

He was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital where he died upon admission.

POLICE in Wedza have arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of a mental health patient Cadilla Njodzi (37) who died while admitted at a local hospital on Saturday.

The suspects , Peter Mandeya (65), Simbarashe Mandeya (40), Felix Chigodora (24), Brain Mandeya (21) and Munashe Chigodora (25) reportedly assaulted Njodzi(37) with switches and booted feet all over the body. 

This after the deceased had destroyed a wooden door and a rear mirror of a Nissan Hardbody vehicle at Peter Mandeya’s residence in Chihota village, Chief Svosve’s area on June 30 this year.

Meanwhile, police in Harare are appealing to anyone with information which may lead to the arrest of unknown suspects in connection with the murder of Liberty Chinembiri (24).

It is reported that on August 27, Chinembiri was attacked by unknown suspects while on duty with nine other security guards. He was found lying behind a hotel along Iford Road, Ardbennie, Waterfalls, with his body heavily bruised.

In another unrelated case, police have warned the public against pirating and giving lifts to strangers in their family vehicles. This follows a case of robbery which occurred on Saturday at Rera Shops area, along Harare-Bulawayo Highway where a motorist driving a Nissan Sunny vehicle lost US$2 000 cash to two suspects he had given a lift from Chegutu to Harare.
