POLICE have arrested two armed robbers who attacked a shopkeeper in Matobo, Bulilimangwe, before stealing cash and a laptop, among other valuables.In a statement yesterday, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Clement Ndlovu (20) and Mduduzi Ndlovu (28) in connection with a case of robbery which occurred on January 8.
“The suspects approached the shopkeeper and bought refreshments after posing as genuine customers. They went on to attack the shopkeeper before stealing US$30 cash, a laptop, two cellphones and a speaker box.
“The police swiftly attended the scene after the shopkeeper made a report and tracked the suspects to Insukamini Power Station, Figtree, where they were arrested. The arrest led to the recovery of all stolen items and a star eibar espania SA pistol 9mm calibre,” Nyathi said. He said the suspects had appeared at Plumtree Regional Court where they were convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
Meanwhile, police have arrested Norah Makwavarara (40) aka Mai Toga and Dexter Muteredhe (34) in two separate incidents in Harare on unlawful possession of crystal meth.“On 13th January 2024 detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare acted on received information and arrested Norah Makwavarara at 13 Marsham Flat along Baines Avenue, Harare for possession of 0,053 kilogrammes of chrystal meth with a street value of ZWL$5 300 000,” Nyathi said.
The suspect yesterday appeared in court where she was remanded in custody to today for bail application.
“On January 13, 2024, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics acted on received information and arrested Muteredhe at Alban Court, for unlawful possession of 48 grammes of crystal meth,” he added.
