Varun Beverages ramps up production

VARUN Beverages Zimbabwe has scaled up its production levels to more than 900 million bottles of carbonated soft drinks, energy drinks, and bottled water annually, after investing over US$110 million in the business.

The company, which was commissioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2018, had a total investment of US$30 million.

“As of 2023, Varun Beverages Zimbabwe has the capacity to produce 80 million bottles of carbonated soft drinks, energy drinks, and bottled water per month,” the company said in a statement.

“We are grateful to the people of Zimbabwe for their love and support. This investment of approximately US$110 million would not have been possible without the support of the people of Zimbabwe.

“Today, Varun Beverages encourages the valuing of healthy living, and with the help of the Indian ambassador and the Indian embassy in Zimbabwe, celebrated International Yoga Day, on June 23, 2023 by conducting yoga sessions at the Varun Beverages plant.”

Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe Vijay Khanduja, addressing Varun Beverages employees, highlighted the importance of yoga for healthy living.

Varun Beverages products in Zimbabwe are Sting energy drink, Pepsi, Mirinda Orange, Mirinda Fruity, Mirinda Pineapple, Mirinda Green Apple, 7Up, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Mountain Dew, and the bottled water brand — Aquaclear.

The beverage maker is the second largest bottler of PepsiCo Holdings in the world. Pepsi is an American brand and has a presence in more than 200 countries. Varun Beverages received the Best Bottler of the World award out of hundreds of PepsiCo Holdings bottlers in more than 200 countries.

“Varun Beverages is committed to making more investments in Zimbabwe and working in the spirit of Zimbabwe — open for investment,” it said.
