BURST pipes at the Criterion and Magwegwe reservoirs in Bulawayo might plunge the city into more water problems, with some suburbs having already run dry.Areas fed by the Criterion reservoir include Bellevue, Newton West, Montrose, Southworld, Nketa 6, 7 and 9, Khami, Pumula East, North and South, while those fed by the Magwegwe reservoir include Gwabalanda, Emakhandeni, Entumbane, Lobengula, Magwegwe, Matshobane and Luveve.Bulawayo City Council issued a statement assuring residents of the affected areas that repairs were ongoing. “The works which started over the weekend have taken longer than anticipated to complete, hence the regrettable interruption of the (water rationing) schedule,”the statement read.“Meanwhile, the areas will be supplemented with water bowsers and kiosks.”Bulawayo has been experiencing water shortages, resulting in water rationing lasting for 72 hours every week.
