The 10th edition of Zimbabwe's Hub UnConference is set to take place on September 25 and 25 with a call for young people to "level up" in the face of emerging trends like Artificial Intelligence (AI).
"We're bringing together some of the brightest minds in the continent to explore how we can use digital media, civic technology, and artistic activism to amplify the voices of youth, women, and marginalized communities,” said Hub UnConference coordinator, Takudzwa Musakasa.
The two-day event will feature showcases, panel discussions, and masterclasses on emerging trends in media, climate justice, civic tech and AI.
Speakers include Kenyan comedian Justine Wanda, Senegalese musician Makhtar Fall (widely known as Xuman), and leading Zimbabwean academic Professor Nehemiah Chivandikwa.
"The Hub UnConference is a platform for young people to engage with industry leaders, explore cutting-edge trends, and seek solutions to pressing societal challenges," said Musakasa.
"We're excited to bring together such a diverse lineup of speakers and attendees to explore how we can 'level up' and make a positive impact in the world."
The event will coincide with the Open Africa Data Summit to discuss the essential role of data in governance, transparency, and civic engagement.
"Data is a powerful tool for change, and we need to make sure it's in the right hands," said Dr. Millie Phiri from Conversation Africa (South Africa), one of the speakers at the summit.
"The Open Africa Data Summit is a critical platform for us to explore how we can use data to drive positive change in Africa."
