MUTARE’S fast-rising gospel artiste, Patronella Mukanganwa’s well-crafted religious lyrics have earned her a top table seat on the showbiz scene.
After releasing the single Great Is Your Name that has visuals, she has now dropped Rumbidzo her second seven-track album recorded at Kunashe Studio in Mutare and produced by Ollin Anderson, who has taken the recording music business by storm.
Known as Mai Mukanganwa, the musician who fronts the Spiritual Worshippers, is fast becoming an eminent lyricist blessed with a captivating voice.
Mai Mukanganwa’s debut album is Murapi Aripano.
The Great Is Your Name video and the album that were released last week have already received reviews on the airwaves and various musical platforms like YouTube.
“The video of Great Is Your Name is all about giving thanks to the Lord, as He is greater than everything. The song Great Is Your Name is a solo track that touches on my personal situations. I was hugely thankful to the Lord for everything He has done for me and my family,” she told NewsDay Life & Style.
“On the song, I was thanking the Lord because He is greater than diseases, family problems, divorce and even economic situations. Jesus restores and is above everything. There is a need to call for His name and seek salvation.”
The album, Rumbidzo carries themes of praise, worship and thanksgiving. It opens with Kunaka KwaMwari that tells all the goodness of the Lord, as He has given people life, despite social and economic injustices that bedevil families.

The second song is Ndoridana that is an emotional track that calls on people to call Jesus’s name in times of difficulty.
“I sang this song (Ndoridana) full of emotions having seen how people are suffering. lt is now important to call Jesus’s name, as He controls everything. He is the answer to our needs,” she said.
The title track, Rumbidzo, is all about the need to praise God as the creator of nature and everything that is in it.
Mai Mukanganwa dedicated the song, Munesu Ishe, to a couple within her church that had spent five years without having children.
“With the favour from God, everything is very possible and this couple was blessed with a baby girl. In the song, I was reminding people that God will always be with us at all times,” she explained.
Chinjikano is another song where she encourages people to always look at the cross where Jesus was crucified for our sins and never to lose focus.
The song Baba Makanaka talks on how God brings joy to people who are facing challenges, while Ndinovimba Nemi completes the album that is full of potential.
Mai Mukanganwa said she started singing long back at Sunday school.
