Air Botswana increases flights to Zim

Air Botswana

BOTSWANA airline, Air Botswana, has expanded its flight network to new destinations in neighbouring countries and increased frequencies on the Gaborone-Harare route.

The airline announced that it would fly the Gaborone-Harare flight route three times a week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday starting November 1 later this year.

Before the increased frequency, the airline was flying twice to Harare on Friday and Sunday.

In a statement, Air Botswana said it had expanded its operations into destinations within Namibia and South Africa.

It will fly to Windhoek in Namibia and Durban, Mpumalanga and Cape Town in South Africa.

“This expansion is intended to ease flights connectivity between destinations within Southern Africa and beyond, while offering flexibility of choice to customers,” Air Botswana said.

“These jet operated new routes will commence in phases from September 1, 2024 to November 1, 2024. Air Botswana is further increasing frequencies on existing routes and reinstating routes that were previously suspended during the COVID-19 era, being Johannesburg–Maun, Johannesburg–Kasane and Johannesburg–Francistown.”

The Johannesburg–Maun flight route will see four flights a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, while the Johannesburg–Kasane route will see three flights a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Both flight routes will begin on September 1, next month.

The Gaborone-Lusaka route will also see three flights a week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, also starting November 1.

Air Botswana will fly the Gaborone–Cape Town route five times a week, on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sundaybeginning November 1.

“The new additions are popular destinations for business and tourism, and we are excited to offer convenient air travel between the cities for the advancement of economic activities in all the countries, particularly Botswana,” Air Botswana chief executive officer Lulu Rasebotsa said.

“We are also excited that this strategic move is directly linked to the airline’s expansion plans and sustainability.

“Furthermore, both these new and reinstated routes as well as increased frequencies will strengthen our footprint in the region and simultaneously offer increased flight options to the travelling community within Botswana and beyond.”
