The Capital Markets Awards — held in partnership with the Capital Markets Association of Zimbabwe — is a landmark recognition programme to benchmark institutional achievement and performance in the markets and exchanges landscape of Zimbabwe’s financial sector. The prestigious annual awards programme’s goal is to recognise excellence in those institutions and individuals that have demonstrated a superior business strategy based on strong underlying fundamentals, highlight emerging best practices in establishing robust market structures and identify challenges in executing sound operational processes which market participants can both learn and benefit from.

Evaluation criteria overview

The evaluation process for each award category involves a dedicated research team that assesses all submitted information against a set of established criteria. These criteria include:

  • Performance metrics: Evaluates financial performance, growth and return on investment.
  • Leadership: Assesses the vision, strategy and effectiveness of the company’s leadership.
  • Market impact: Considers the influence and contribution to the capital markets.
  • Innovation: Looks at the adoption of new ideas, technologies or processes.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility: Measures the company’s commitment to ethical practices and social contributions.
  •  Industry reputation: Assesses peer recognition, credibility and standing within the industry.
  • Peer recognition: Considers accolades and recognition from industry peers.
  • Transparency: Evaluates the clarity and honesty in reporting and communication.
  • Compliance: Considers adherence to regulatory standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Contributions to the market: Evaluates the overall impact on the growth and stability of the capital markets.

This award recognises a listed company that has demonstrated exceptional performance and growth prospects.

The winner will be a responsible, accountable and dynamic business with a long-term vision and a strong commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.
