AFTER a short hiatus from the music industry, South Africa-based gospel diva Martha Shonhiwa is back with an extended play comprising three singles titled Thank You, Your Name is Jehovah and Murimutsvene.

The Ndauya Kuzomutenda hit singer, who is simply known as Martha in the music industry, was on a hiatus from the industry as she swapped a microphone for a pen advancing her education.

Speaking from her base in South Africa, Martha who last dropped a single titled Africa in 2019, said she was working on her new album in 2020.

She said the Covid-19 pandemic came and disrupted all her plans, which left her with no choice but to shelve all her plans and pursue other business interests.

“Covid-19 was a big blow to us as musicians and everyone at large because we had to put on hold a lot of our works to focus on fighting the pandemic,” Martha said.

“So, myself I took this time to pursue other businesses and projects I had shelved before and also advance my education.

“Now with the easing of the pandemic I am back and very grateful to the almighty God for guiding us through the difficult time we were experiencing hence my new single is called Thank You.

“The period we went through was very hard on everyone, but God was with us all the time, so we have to thank you all the time.”

Her latest single Thank You is accompanied by a world-class video which is already trending on YouTube and different social media sites.

Since her breakthrough in the music industry, Martha has released two albums Ndauya Kuzomutenda (2011), Grace (2018) and many singles.
