The Chantelle Jani Foundation has launched a stationery distribution drive targeting children in squatter camps in and around Harare, in an initiative aimed at improving access to education while restoring dignity and hope among vulnerable learners.

Through the programme, the foundation will distribute more than 160 stationery hampers to children living in informal settlements to ensure they begin their academic journey equipped with basic learning tools.

Speaking on the initiative, Chantelle Jani, one of the  the founders of the foundation, said the organisation was born out of a deep desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of marginalised communities.

“Growing up with privilege, I witnessed firsthand the disparities in access to opportunities and resources,” Jani said.

“With a heart for compassion and transformation, I felt compelled to uplift and empower those who are often left behind.”

She said the foundation was driven by the belief that even small interventions can have a lasting impact.

“We believe that small acts of kindness can spark lasting change, especially when they are focused on education,” Jani said.

The foundation said the stationery drive is designed not only to address material shortages, but also to instill motivation and confidence among children who face socio-economic barriers to learning.

“At the Chantelle Jani Foundation, we firmly believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for empowerment and long-term social transformation,” the organisation said in a statement.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment where they are supported and encouraged, regardless of their background.”

Beyond the stationery distribution, the foundation remains committed to supporting squatter camp communities through the provision of basic needs, while also pursuing sustainable, long-term development solutions aligned with its broader vision of social upliftment and community empowerment.

The foundation has called on individuals, organisations and well-wishers to partner with or support its initiatives, saying collective action is key to addressing educational and social challenges faced by vulnerable children.

Cordelia Jani is another founder of the foundation.
