Dancehall musician Winky D has expressed gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support, acknowledging that he is currently facing difficulties in his career.

Following his successful show in Birmingham, UK, Winky D took to social media to thank his fans for braving the cold weather to attend the concert. He emphasised that their presence provided a much-needed boost of morale and reaffirmed the strength of the "Gafa" movement.

"To all the passionate Gafas who braved the chilly December weather in Birmingham, your spirit heated up the night and created an unforgettable Swagga muchando moment," he wrote.

"Your unwavering support in filling the venue is a powerful testament to your dedication to the Gafa movement.

"Your attendance resonated with strength and solidarity, sending a heartfelt message of resilience right into my soul.

"Thank you for standing by me during these challenging times. Together we made history," he said.

The comments came amid a recent controversy surrounding Winky D's planned New Year's Eve show at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC). The venue owners reportedly cancelled Winky D's event to accommodate another function, despite a prior agreement with the musician.

Winky D's legal representative stated that the artist had secured the HICC venue in May 2024 and had invested significant time and effort in preparing for the show. The unexpected cancellation has presented a significant challenge for the musician and his team.
