VARIOUS business leaders have commended Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) of Zimbabwe for its ongoing youth empowerment programme aimed at rallying youths towards excellence and productivity. The noble initiative comes at a time a majority of young people are wasting away to drug and substance abuse.
Speaking to The Standard Lifestyle on the side lines of the second edition of the (Click👉) Youth empowerment seminars at Faith Alive church in Westgate Harare, Goldswift Construction MD Budwell Nziramasanga commended AFM for its apt and tailor made programme.
“There is no better time to nurture young people for excellence and productivity than now. They are contenting with a lot of life pressures and designing a programme that opens their eyes to possibilities is a plausible move by the church," Nziramasanga said.

One needs direction in life and we also want them to embrace the possibility of owning your own home even at a young age.”
Optimus MD, Wilson Chimbuya said the church was doing the right thing by exposing young people to a world of excellence.
“This youth empowerment seminar comes with positive role modelling for the youths in that beyond the spiritual teachings; we have various captains of industry speaking to them and exhibiting their brands," Chimbuya said.
"This is a good way of bringing them up to speed with developments in the marketplace so that they are encouraged to chase their dreams and avoid wasting their lives to vanity and drug abuse.”
Kingdom Life Centre pastor and Harare West province overseer Reverend Panganai Vitalis Makarichi said they feel duty bound to play their part in raising an empowered generation that play their part in nation building.
“The church has a task to preach a wholesome gospel that minister to all spheres of life and we are taking this drive a gear up with the ongoing youth empowerment seminars. Over 300 youths attended the first edition in Norton and today we have over 500 in attendance," he said.
"We want to mould our young people into responsible future business people, political leaders and captains of industry and the programme seeks to identify young people with talent and potential so that we expose them to what is in the marketplace through role modelling with the various business leaders and brands speaking and exhibiting here,” he said.
Harare West Youth Provincial Pastor Ngonidzashe Chimbwanda said young people must desist from a culture of complaining and blame game but work to better their lives.
“Our young people content with a lot of challenges but that must not be reason for them to just sit and complain. Through these seminars, we are raising a power generation that takes matters into their hands and work to change their situation," he said.
"As a church, we are going for wholesome gospel that ministers hope and purpose driven living. We are encouraged by the turnout at both the Norton and Westgate programme and we hope to continue rolling out the seminars across Zimbabwe.”
One of the seminar organisers; a member of AFM of Zimbabwe and businessperson Mandela Katsande said they are encouraged by the impact of the empowerment seminars and hope to go all out with the programme.
“These empowerment seminars have done well to enlighten our young people and open their eyes to a world of possibilities. We don’t want them to waste away to drugs and substance abuse but that they excel in their individual pursuits," Katsande said.
"They have a whole world to conquer and as a church we hope to continue inspiring them for excellence. This is the beginning of an important chapter through which we intent to raise a power generation of Christian millionaires.”
Various brands also exhibited at the available exhibition stands and took the young people through their life experiences in business highlighting that success is possible as long you work hard and avoid such vices as drug and substance abuse.
