THE Korean embassy in Zimbabwe has unveiled a series of events to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Zimbabwe and Korea.
The embassy told Standard Style that they were rolling out the red carpet for four spectacular events to mark the anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In Korea, the celebrations are already underway with a week-long Africa Day Festival in downtown Seoul, leading up to the highly anticipated Korea-Africa Summit in early June.
The embassy said they had invited President Emmerson Mnangagwa to the summit to celebrate Zimbabwe-Korea diplomatic relations which was established in 1994.
“The year 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Zimbabwe and Korea. It means this year is a festive year for celebration,” the embassy said.
“The summit meeting in June will be an important momentum for closer partnership between Africa and Korea in the future that we make together,” the embassy said.
The Korean embassy said they were planning to unveil an extraordinary exhibition that will bring together Korean and Zimbabwean artefacts made from recycled materials.
“In July, there will be an exhibition at the National Gallery of Art. Korean artefacts, which are made from recycled materials, will be displayed together with similar Zimbabwean artifacts made by local artists,” it said.

The embassy further said they would host a thrilling performance by the world-renowned Kukkiwon Team, the World Taekwondo Headquarters.
“In September, a Taekwondo performance team, named Kukkiwon Team, from Korea will come to Harare and demonstrate top class Taekwondo skills. Kukkiwon is the name of World Taekwondo Headquarters. And that is why I can confidently say they are the world's best Taekwondo team.”
It also said October would see the culmination of the cultural celebration with the K-Festival in Harare, a vibrant event featuring the acclaimed Korean B-boying dance team, Jinjo Crew.
“One of the standout aspects of this festival is the participation of a Jinjo crew member who is set to compete in the upcoming Paris Olympics as part of the Korean national team. This adds an extra layer of excitement and prestige to the event, offering attendees a chance to witness world-class talent in action.”
The K-Festival will not only feature dance but also a variety of Korean cultural experiences, including traditional music, food, and interactive workshops.
