Santa Claus comes to Makokoba

Lewis Ndlovu

BULAWAYO-BASED drummer and Drums of Peace founder Lewis Ndlovu says all is set for this year’s sixth edition of Santa Comes to Makokoba scheduled for December 20 at Thabiso Youth Centre.

On the day, selected children in the suburb between the ages of five and 15 will get a Christmas treat,  and entertained through music, Christmas Carols, games and pampered with gifts.

“Christmas time is a moment of giving, goodwill and kindness to mankind,” said Ndlovu.

“It is family time and this is the only time where some children in Makokoba can only get a glimpse of the Christmas mood and meet Santa Claus.

“It's all about celebrating Christmas with the children of Makokoba and giving back to the community.

“The major objective of this programme is to make the community of Makokoba happy, have a sense of belonging, celebrate and impart knowledge on what Christmas is all about.”

Ndlovu said they were seeking partnerships from corporates to make this event successful.

“We now await their response,” he said.

“We also have our traditional sponsors whom we are hopeful will respond.”

He said this year they would select and reward six children who excelled at school.
