THE government will modernise national youth service and vocational training facilities to meet the needs of young people and the constantly shifting employment market.
This was revealed by Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training minister Tino Machakaire at the under 40 Most Influential Young Business Leaders in Zimbabwe 2024 Awards Ceremony and Professional Director Certification Ceremony held in Harare last week.
“We are working tirelessly to transform vocational training centres and the national youth service to better align with the needs of our youth and the evolving job market,” he said.
“By doing so, we aim to equip our young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to the growth and development of Zimbabwe.”
The 40 under 40 awards celebrations were held by the Institute of Corporate Directors of Zimbabwe to honour the most prominent and young leaders under the age of 40, who are excelling in nearly every area of the economy.
The event ran under the theme, Entrepreneurial creativity and innovation.
Information Communication and Technology minister Tatenda Mavetera was named among most influential young leaders.
Machakaire said the young leaders who have been named among the 40 most influential Young Business Leaders in Zimbabwe are paving the way for a new era of growth and development.

He said their contributions will be instrumental in shaping the future of Zimbabwe.
Machakaire highlighted the programmes that has been implemented by the ministry to foster entrepreneurial skills among youths in the country.
“As we celebrate these achievements, it is essential to reflect on the importance of empowering our youth and creating opportunities for them to realise their potential.
“The ministry is implementing various initiatives, such as the Empower Bank, Presidential Heifer Pass On Scheme, Integrated Youth Skills Development, and Agriculture Mechanisation Scheme, to provide our young people with the resources and support they need to succeed,” he said.
Speaking to NewsDay on the sidelines of the event, Machakaire said the government was working towards the vision of young people.
“As the ministry, we are working in support of the President's vision to make sure that we support all the youngsters that are in business and those trying to develop their skills.
“As the government, we are working to support the vision of young people and whatever ideas that comes up with our young people of Zimbabwe,” he said.
