IT never rains but pours for a Plumtree man who allegedly bashed his wife with an axe handle after accusing her of cheating on him when he was in prison three years ago.
The matter came to light at Plumtree magistrates courts yesterday where Witness Nyoni appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to August 24 for trial.
The State, led by Arnold Mudekunye, alleged that on July 9 at around 2100hrs, Nyoni arrived home drunk and found his wife Elizabeth Tshuma (32) in the kitchen hut with her children.
Nyoni accused his wife of having extra-marital affairs while he was in prison in 2020.
He strucked the complainant several times with planks all her body and twice with a wooden handle of an axe on the left hand and she sustained a fracture.
Nyoni threatened to kill the complainant if she reported him to the police.
The matter was later reported to the police at Malalume base. Investigations were carried out leading to the arrest of the accused.
