Entembeni Old People’s Home runs dry

Entembeni Old People’s Home

BULAWAYO’S Entembeni Old People’s Home is facing water challenges after its borehole broke down many months ago.

This emerged on Saturday when Bulawayo parking management company Trendy Three Investment (TTI) donated various goodies to the home.

Entembeni Old People’s Home board chairperson Newman Sibanda said the home currently has no access to clean and safe water.

“We need piped water. Our borehole broke down several months ago. The old borehole has no piping and pumping systems,” Sibanda said.

“Another challenge happens during the load shedding period; we are appealing to well-wishers who can supply us with solar-powered energy as a lasting solution.”

Acting Entembeni administrator Claris Muzvidziwa said there are 58 elderly people at the institution, comprising 32 males and 28 females.

She appealed for furniture such as beds and chairs.

TTI chairperson Lizwe Mabuza promised to meet some of the needs of the institution.

“We wish to be meaningful partners for this institution. We bought food pampers and other items for all the elders here that can last them for the whole month,” Mabuza said.

Bulawayo Vendors Traders Association Luveve representative Sharon Chiwa also promised to mobilise support for the institution.
